In desperate need of a safe place for my husband and myself. (New Orleans)

We are on older couple.
He is 71 and I am 40.
We are very quiet down to earth guys from who just relocated here from Texas.
When we came we had rented a place sight unseen and when we got to our new house after the travel from Texas, come to find out the person didn’t own the house and just took our money.
I am on disability and my husband receives full retirement through the state as he was a college instructor.
So we were here and stuck so we stayed at a n Airbnb for a long as we could then we found what we thought would be a nice place to stay.
They charged us what we thought was deposit and rent and these rental apartments which turned out to be an old hotel and now they have told us that there was no security deposit paid and our rent was 1400 dollars when we went to pay.
That being twice why it was supposed to be.
So I paid everything I have right now to prevent being homelessness but they are telling me that I have to move out on Wednesday which I have nowhere to go if I can’t find anything and I’m freaking out.
We know no one or anything around here that could help.
Someone please with advice or help please let us know.
I need to be close to the cancer treatment center for treatment and we just want to feel safe.
We will not receive a check until 25.
Rent is paid here until the 12th so I will have a whole 2 weeks before I can get my check.
Then my husband turns around and gets his 5 days later.
We make enough to cover our bills when we are not screwed around and taken advantage of.
We just love the area and we really don’t want to move.
But we are in dire straights and I don’t know what else to do.
If someone has any advice or could know somewhere I could get some help please let me know asap.
Like I said we are not from here and we just need some help if there are any things you could do to helping even point me in the right direction.
I have until Monday to figure this and they just flung it on me.
God please let someone help us.
