Works collaboratively with the investigative and research staff and ancillary departments to determine study team effort, patient services and research administrative costs.

Education Required – Bachelor’s degree.
Preferred – Master’s degree in healthcare, business, or related field.
Work Experience Required – 3 years of experience in research administration, finance or healthcare.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities (KSAs) Basic understanding of clinical trials and ability to read and understand study protocols.
Basic analytical skills and ability to evaluate costs and benefits and solve problems.
Mathematical skills and ability to conduct financial analyses.
Customer service and interpersonal skills and ability to effectively meet the needs of internal and external customers.
Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications.
Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to present information clearly and professionally.
Strong organizational skills and ability to be detail oriented.
Project management skills and ability to meet departmental deadlines and performance metrics in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to have reliable transportation and travel throughout and between facilities.

Job Duties Assists in the development of budgets in collaboration with the study team for assigned portfolio of research studies across multiple disciplines.
Reviews protocols, contracts and billable items, and determines start up per subject and invoiceable costs, including but not limited to patient charges and labor costs for research coordinators, physician investigators and investigational pharmacists.
Uses standard fee schedule to determine research administrative costs.
Compares the schedule of visits with the description of visits in the protocol and ensures all items are reflected in the budget.
Identifies items in study protocol which require a current procedural terminology (CPT) code and identifies the correct code.
Establishes a threshold and maximum for budget negotiations.
Assists in negotiations of the budget with the sponsor and/or Contract Research Organization (CRO) to cover all costs to conduct the study, converts budget into industry sponsor template, and includes template in clinical trial agreement.
Meets established departmental deadlines and performance metrics.
Performs other related duties as required.
