POSITION SUMMARY
The CPA is responsible for managing the collection and recording of all pertinent financial data and transactions, training and management of accounting office and other financial functions.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
As a true business partner to the CFO and senior leadership, assess organizational performance against both the annual budget and organization's long-term strategy.
Develop tools and systems to provide critical financial and operational information to the CFO and make actionable recommendations on operations.
Organizes the accounting department to insure proper accounting for all pertinent records.
Coordinates year-end activities including audits, audit schedules, cost reports, and tax and informational returns.
Ensures quarterly bond filings and Medicare credit balance reports are filed accurately and timely.
Reviews all phases of the monthly independent living, companion services and health center billings.
Oversees submittal of all Medicare Part A and Part B billings.
Reviews billings for accuracy and reasonableness.
Monitors, reports regularly, and follows up on all past due accounts.
Prepares all financial statements and performs analysis prior to distribution.
Oversees reconciliation of all bank accounts to the bank statements, subsidiary journals and to the general ledger.
Ensures that all miscellaneous monies are properly handled.
Team Management
Mentors and develops the accounting team, managing work allocation, training, problem resolution, and the building of an effective team dynamic.
Counsels and advises Department Heads about efficient and cost-saving budget preparation and administration.
Policy and Stakeholder Relations
Works collaboratively with peers and serves as a resource person for employees, Department Heads, Executive Officer, and Board of Directors.
Assists the CFO in reporting financial and operational matters to the Board of Directors and Board Finance Committee.
Monitors the implementation and maintenance of accounting control policies and procedures.
Resident Relations
Maintains resident business files.
Calculates and processes move-in and amortization schedules for new residents.
Calculates and processes move out, termination and return of advance deposit refunds.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field.
Thorough knowledge of general accounting functions, accounting practices and principles, and audit procedures.
CPA in good standing required.
Minimum of five years hands-on experience with G/L, A/P, A/R, Payroll, and financial statement preparation.
Proficient in the use of computers, Microsoft Office Suite, Sage 100, Netchex, and other related software systems.
