Chief Compliance Officer (CCO)

Position Summary:
The Chief Compliance Officer (CCO) plays a critical leadership role in ensuring our hospital adheres to all applicable laws, regulations, and ethical standards.
This position reports directly to the CEO and serves as a strategic advisor on compliance matters.
The CCO will lead the development, implementation, and oversight of a comprehensive compliance program that fosters a culture of integrity throughout the organization.
Responsibilities:
Develop, implement, and manage a hospital-wide compliance program that addresses federal and state healthcare regulations, Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) requirements, and internal policies.
Conduct regular risk assessments to identify and mitigate potential compliance vulnerabilities.
Oversee compliance audits and investigations, and implement corrective action plans as needed.
Design and deliver effective compliance training programs for all staff members, ensuring they understand their roles and responsibilities in maintaining compliance.
Maintain strong working relationships with key stakeholders across the hospital, including leadership, departments, and the legal team.
Stay abreast of evolving regulations and industry best practices, and ensure compliance programs are updated accordingly.
Report to the CEO and Board of Directors on the effectiveness of the compliance program and any material compliance issues.
Advocate for a culture of compliance within the hospital, promoting ethical conduct and open communication.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree required, Master's in Healthcare Administration (MHA), or related field preferred.
Minimum 5-7 years of experience in healthcare compliance, with a proven track record of success in leading and managing compliance programs in a hospital setting.
In-depth knowledge of federal and state healthcare regulations, including HIPAA, Stark Laws, Anti-Kickback Statute, and False Claims Act.
Strong understanding of accreditation standards and best practices in healthcare compliance.
Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and motivate staff at all levels.
Proven ability to develop and deliver effective training programs.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent judgment and discretion.
