After Hurricane Katrina submerged Plaquemines Parish, Louisiana in 20 feet of salt water for two weeks, killing most of the vegetation, Peggy Martin found her climbing rose alive and in full pink bloom.
The rose was subsequently chosen as a symbol for the area's Horticulture Restoration Fund and renamed accordingly.
This is a pink cluster blooming nearly thornless climbing rose, that blooms the heaviest in the Spring.
but has flowers throughout the year.
It is a very fast grower and easily trained, well adapted to the New Orleans region's weather conditions tolerating heat and droughts well.
Well established and growing in black nursery pots.
The third and forth images of the gate were taken only one year apart!
