Our internship program is tailored to full-time students currently enrolled at an accredited four-year university and recent graduates in North America.
Internships are temporary full-time paid positions and typically run from May through August.
Please note: At the sole discretion of the company, this position has the possibility to work remotely up to 100% of the time from anywhere within the United States, except California, Connecticut, Illinois, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Hampshire, New York, Oklahoma as well as other states based on business factors.
This position may require occasional travel to the New Orleans/Phoenix corporate offices and/or site locations throughout the United States.
Description We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Intern to join our team and assist with the administration of the Tax Equalization Policy.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to work closely with our 3rd party provider and other internal teams, gaining hands-on experience in providing tax equalization assistance to an international workforce.
This internship offers a unique blend of tax exposure and insight into strategic overseas benefit programs.
Collaborate with the internal tax equalization team to produce settlement statements for third-country nationals Assist in conducting tax research on a variety of topics Assist in the preparation and analysis of annual expatriate settlements Work closely with the 3rd party tax preparer and other internal teams (i.
e.
, Payroll, International HR) to facilitate the administration and communication of the program.
Contribute to the development and maintenance of tax equalization plan.
Assist with the development and update of FAQs and videos explaining the tax equalization program.
Stay informed about industry trends and best practices in world of employee mobility.
Qualifications Minimum Requirements: Full-time student currently enrolled at an accredited four-year university majoring in an appropriate Accounting/Tax or Business discipline or closely related field, OR Recent college graduate having graduated within 12 months prior to internship start date with a degree in Accounting, Human Resources, Business, or closely related field Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a team.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and integrity.
Demonstrated organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge or strong interest in tax and/or HR mobility principles and practices.
Familiarity with individual tax, a plus.
Criteria/Conditions: Ability to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions and procedures given in English Ability to communicate in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standards Must be able to work in a potentially stressful environment Work is in an office, mine, or manufacturing plant setting, which may include exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity, moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, toxic chemicals, explosives, fumes or airborne particles While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs and ladders, work on elevated platforms, talk, hear and see Occasionally may be required to lift moderately heavy objects up to thirty (30) pounds during the course of t he workday Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine, outdoor, manufacturing or plant environment, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and any other protective equipment as required Freeport-McMoRan promotes a drug / alcohol free work environment through the use of mandatory pre- employment drug testing and on-going random drug testing as per applicable state laws Compensation: The estimated pay range for this role is currently $18.
00 - $23.
40/hour.
Individual pay rates will be based on level of education and relevant experience.
